Hypertension and its related causes

This simply means that the pressure when the heart pumps blood, which is also known as the systolic reading, has crossed 140 mmHg. On the other hand, the diastolic reading, wherein the heart refills the blood and relaxes, is above 90 mmHg.

Let us look at some of the main causes of hypertension.

  • One of the main factors of hypertension is the modern lifestyle and unhealthy eating practices that lead to high blood pressure and rise in cholesterol levels.
  • It is also seen that lack of physical activity such as no exercise, jogging, walking, etc. can also lead to high blood pressure and thereby cause hypertension.
  • Also, excessive intake of salts in your daily diet increases the blood pressure levels. It is observed that salt-rich diets with fatty foods are one of the main reasons of hypertension.
  • Tobacco use and intake of alcohol are also a major reason for hypertension or high blood pressure. Although in the short run it won’t look like that these reasons affect your blood pressure levels, but they surely do if the intake continues.

Apart from the above-mentioned causes of hypertension, it is also seen that high blood pressure is caused by other health diseases. For instance, kidney diseases can also lead to high blood pressure. In some of the cases, high blood pressure is also associated with some medications.

One should know that hypertension does not have any symptoms of its own but it surely does affect the blood vessels in the long run. If you do not keep your health under check and keep a close eye on your high blood pressure, then there can be serious health issues in the long run.

Doctors do prescribe some medications and lifestyle changes that can help treat hypertension. Although medicines do help, but regular exercise and meditation can be of significant help.
It is highly advisable to do a regular checkup for high blood pressure or hypertension and do not avoid the same. It is better to keep your health under check and also consult a specialist on a regular basis.
